Superior Translations and its
parent company, Toward, Inc. were founded in 1993 by
4 enterprising, internationally-minded women in order to provide
businesses and other organizations with high quality, accurate,
professional language services. With backgrounds in academia, languages,
business, media, and translation, they understood the importance
of effective communication, and the negative effects of a poor translation.
The problem was, as they saw it, that clients in search of language
services had no way of assessing the quality of a translation without
turning to another translator.
All translations are not created
equal. A machine or internet translated
document will never produce a translation true to its original version.
In fact, those who understand something of language will know that
many times, the literal translation will end up being completely
incoherent! (Example: The Chevy Nova was marketed in Mexico under
the same name, but unfortunately, "No va" in Spanish translates
as "doesn't go". Not exactly what the people at Chevrolet
had in mind!).
While
it may be easy to see how a machine or computer generated translation
is inferior to a professionally produced translation, there are
several key differentiators that earn Superior Translations its
place as #1 in quality and accuracy:
- Our translators are native speakers of
the target language you are translating into. This means they
not only command the language as no foreign speaker can, but also
that they have a firm understanding of the culture, the nuances
of the language, slang and idioms, and regional/dialectic colloquialisms
that go along with the target language.
- Our translators are certified by the ATA
(American Translators Association). Most of our translators are
certified by the ATA, which involves passing a rigorous test for
language proficiency in grammar, lexicon, vocabulary, as well
as tone, rhythm, and feel. For languages not certifiable by the
ATA, we have a network of trusted, professional translators who
have built their resumes with us over the years.
- For all translations involving technical
terminology (such as science, engineering, medical, etc.) we match
translators whose own professional background and training corresponds
to your industry. For example, a French Canadian doctor to translate
your medical journal article for readers in Montreal.
- The process doesn't end there--we follow
up every translation with 2 rounds of editing and revising by
a second qualified translator to insure accuracy and agreement.
- Lastly, we GUARANTEE
every job we undertake, which means we take the fear and the guesswork
out of translation. You don't have to wonder if what you said
is what they heard. You know.
